1. Schedule “work time” and “play time” into the day so that your child knows when it is time to focus on schoolwork
  2. Create a dedicated workspace for your child, away from distractions like television or video games
  3. Make sure that you are available to answer questions and help with assignments as needed
  4. Encourage breaks every 20 minutes or so to allow your child to move around and stay fresh
  5. Be flexible – some days will be better than others, and that’s okay!
  6. Make sure your child is getting enough sleep at night – a tired homeschooler is not going to be able to focus in class
  7. Create a daily schedule for your homeschooler that includes time for schoolwork and breaks
  8. Help your child find ways to stay engaged with the material – if they’re struggling, try using different methods or finding supplemental materials
  9. Encourage positive reinforcement – praise your child when they do well in class or on their assignments
  10. Take a breake, sometimes both you and your child need to step back a little. Go out to the park and have a picnic, spending cuality time is priceless.
